Getting started with your Ledger device

Set Up Your Ledger Hardware Wallet

Follow these steps to securely initialize your Ledger Nano S, Nano X, or Nano S Plus device.

Unbox and Connect Your Device

Remove your Ledger device from packaging and connect it to your computer using the included USB cable.

Download Ledger Live

Install the official Ledger Live application on your desktop or mobile device:

Initialize Your Device

Choose "Set up as new device" when prompted in Ledger Live. Your device will guide you through the setup process.

Security Tip: Only download Ledger Live from our official website.

Create Your PIN Code

Set up a 4-8 digit PIN code that will be required to access your device. This protects your wallet if the device is lost or stolen.

Write Down Your Recovery Phrase

Your device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. Write these words in order on the provided recovery sheet.

Critical: Never digitize your recovery phrase. Store it offline in a secure location.

Confirm Your Recovery Phrase

Verify that you've correctly recorded your recovery phrase by selecting the words when prompted by your device.

Install Crypto Asset Apps

Use Ledger Live to install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).

Add Accounts and Manage Assets

Create accounts for your crypto assets in Ledger Live and start managing your portfolio securely.
